Two killed as Bahrain forces clear Pearl square in Manama
Arabic : 08:35 GMT : داهمت الشرطة البحرينية محتجين معتصمين في دوار (ميدان) اللؤلؤة بوسط العاصمة المنامة فجر يوم الخميس وقتلت شخصين على الاقل في الوقت الذي انتشرت فيه دبابات وشاحنات عسكرية مع محاولة الحكومة انهاء ثلاثة ايام من المظاهرات التي تستلهم انتفاضتين في مصر وتونس.
وأبلغ أحد المتظاهرين رويترز بالهاتف "رجال الشرطة قادمون.. انهم يطلقون الغاز المسيل للدموع علينا."
وقال متظاهر اخر "لقد جرحت .. انني أنزف.. انهم يقتلوننا."
وفي وقت لاحق شوهدت أكثر من 50 مركبة مدرعة وهي تسير باتجاه دوار اللؤلؤة في وسط العاصمة البحرينية المنامة.
واعتصم المئات في خيام في دوار اللؤلؤة عند تقاطع طرق رئيسي في المنامة ويسعون الي تحويله الي قاعدة لاحتجاجات تستمر لفترة طويلة على غرار الاحتجاجات التي شهدها ميدان التحرير في القاهرة والتي أجبرت الرئيس المصري حسني مبارك على التنحي بعد ان حكم البلاد حوالي 30 عاما.
وارتفع بسقوط قتيلي فجر يوم الخميس عدد القتلى في البحرين منذ تفجر الاحتجاجات هذا الاسبوع الى اربعة قتلى.
English : Bahrain police stormed a Manama square on Thursday to clear activists camped out there as anti-government protests in the Middle East and North Africa, inspired by revolts in Tunisia and Egypt, gathered pace.
In Bahrain, police firing tear gas and rubber bullets cleared hundreds of people from the central Pearl Square in the early hours as they tried to end three days of protests.
At least two protesters were killed and armored vehicles were later seen heading to the area.
"Police are coming, they are shooting teargas at us," one demonstrator told Reuters by telephone. Another said: "I am wounded, I am bleeding. They are killing us."
Thousands of overwhelmingly Shi'ite protesters took to the streets in Bahrain this week demanding more say in the Gulf Arab island kingdom where a family of Sunni Muslims rules over a population that mostly belongs to the Shi'ite sect.
