UK RIOTS
Police will use plastic bullets against rioters Tonight
In court: Semeone Wilson, left, girlfriend of Mark Duggan, and two family members
English: Machahir123--The family of Mark Duggan today disowned the rioting that was initially sparked by his death and spoke of their "deep distress".
In a statement released after an inquest was opened and adjourned, they said that they were determined to establish the truth of what had happened to him.
The statement, read by Helen Shaw of the lobby group Inquest, said: "The family want everybody to know that the disorder going on has nothing to do with finding out what had happened to Mark.
"They also want people to know that they are deeply distressed by the disorder affecting so many communities across the country."
Mr Duggan was killed by a police bullet in the chest, the inquest heard. The suspected gangster's girlfriend, Semeone Wilson, and five other members of his family and friends were in court to hear that a full inquest may not be held for six months. In an eight-minute hearing at High Barnet, the north London coroner Andrew Walker offered his "deepest condolences" to the bereaved family.
He told them he could release the body for a funeral but could not disclose any documents about the shooting until the completion of the investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
