French judge suspends corruption trial centering on ex-President Chirac until June

English: Machahir123 - A Paris judge has delayed one part of a historic trial in which former French President Jacques Chirac is accused of corruption.

The judge may decide Tuesday whether the second part of the trial will be allowed to continue as scheduled.

Judge Dominique Pathe asked France's highest court, the Court of Cassation, to consider a protest by a lawyer for one of Chirac's co-defendants.

The lawyer argued that a key complaint in the case was made too long ago to merit a trial today, and that they shouldn't have combined two cases for a single trial.
