أمريكا: هبوط المكوك أتلانتس الى الأرض للمرة الأخيرة

Space shuttle Atlantis has landed safely at Kennedy Space Centre after its final mission

مشاهير123- حط مكوك الفضاء الأمريكي "أتلانتس" في مركز كينيدي الفضائي بولاية فلوريدا، في وقت مبكر من صباح الخميس، لينهي آخر مهمة له في الفضاء، ويسدل معها الستار نهائياً على برنامج مواكيك الفضاء، الذي استمر العمل به لنحو 30 عاماً.
ولامست عجلات المكوك الأرض في تمام الساعة 05:57 من صباح الخميس، بتوقيت الساحل الشرقي للولايات المتحدة، عائداً من مهمته الأخيرة بالفضاء التي استمرت 12 يوماً، نقل خلالها قطع غيار وإمدادات لمحطة الفضاء الدولية، للمساعدة في بقائها في مدارها، على ارتفاع نحو 250 ميلاً، حول الأرض.
وتعني عودة أتلانتس إلى الأرض صباح الخميس، نهاية برنامج المواكيك الذي كانت تستخدمها وكالة الفضاء الأمريكية "ناسا" طيلة ثلاثة عقود، حيث من المقرر أن يُحال المكوك إلى التقاعد، ليلحق بنظيريه "ديسكفري" و"إنديفور"، اللذين أُحيلا للتقاعد في وقت سابق.
ولم يعد أمام الوكالة الأمريكية وسيلة لإرسال روادها أو معداتها إلى محطة الفضاء الدولية، سوى اللجوء إلى مركبات الفضاء الروسية، ولو بصورة مؤقتة، إلى حين توفير برامج بديلة، غير أنها لن تكون قريبة زمنياً.

وكان أتلانتس قد انطلق إلى الفضاء الخارجي، وعلى متنه طاقم يضم أربعة رواد بقيادة كريس فيرغسون، في الثامن من يوليو/ تموز الجاري، في الرحلة رقم 135 لمواكيك الفضاء الأمريكية، تم خلالها إجراء عمليات سير في الفضاء الخارجي لاثنين من رواد الفضاء.

English: Machahir123--The space shuttle Atlantis glided home through a clear moonlit sky on Thursday to complete a 13-day cargo run to the International Space Station and a 30-year odyssey for NASA's shuttle program.

Commander Chris Ferguson gently steered the 100-ton spaceship high overhead, then nose-dived toward the swamp-surrounded landing strip at the Kennedy Space Center, a few miles (km) from where Atlantis will go on display as a museum piece.

Double sonic booms shattered the predawn silence around the space center, the last time residents will hear the sound of a shuttle coming home.
