Serbia arrests last major war crimes fugitive

مشاهير123- ألقت السرطة في صربيا على الكرواتي غوران هادجيتش، وهو واحد من المطلوبين للمثول أمام محكمة جرائم الحرب في لاهاي لاتهامة بارتكاب فظائع أثناء حرب البلقان بين عامي 1991، 1995.
وقد كان هادجيتش يقود قوات صرب كرواتيا الإنفصالية التي حاربت للاستقلال عن صربيا على غرار ما كان يطالب به إقليم البوسنة.
وقد خاض هادجيتش الحركة القومية المسلحة فيما كان يعرف بجمهورية كرايينا الإنفصالية التي أعلنها صرب كرواتيا بين عامي 1992 ، 1993. وقد سعى بالدرجة الأولى إلى منع استقلال كرواتيا كجمهورية مستقلة عن يوغوسلافيا السابقة التي تشكل صربيا العمود الفقري لها.
وقال مسوؤل صربي أ بعد أقل من شهرين من اعتقال قائد قوات صرب البوسنة راتكو ميلاديتش لتقديمه أيضا لمحكمة جرائم الحرب في يوغوسلافيا السابقة بتهمة إرتكاب فظائع ضد المسلمين اثناء تلك الحرب.

English: Machahir123-- Serbia's last major war crimes fugitive, a Croatian Serb wartime leader indicted for crimes against humanity during the 1991-95 Croatian war, has been arrested, a Serbian official has told Reuters news agency.

Boris Tadic, Serbia's president, said on Wednesday that Hadzic was arrested in the mountainous Fruska Gora region of northern Serbia.

"With this, Serbia, has concluded its most difficult chapter in the cooperation with the Hague Tribunal," Tadic said in a televised statement.

Tadic said his country has now concluded its "legal duties ... as well as its moral duty", meeting EU demands that it track down and arrest all war crimes fugitives.

The Serbian president denied that authorities in his country knew where Hadzic had been hiding.

"Serbia did not know where Goran Hadzic was," Tadic said.
