Libya's Gaddafi to face 'Day of Rage ,Thursday 17 Feb 2011'
English : Thousands of Libyans, inspired by the historic revolution in Egypt, plan to hold mass protest rallies against the four-decade-long dictatorship of Muammar Gaddafi, a report says.
Libyans are reportedly planning to hold rallies on Thursday, as the people-powered revolution continues to sweep the Arab World.
The report published in Mail Online under the title "Now even Mad Dog Gaddafi faces a Day of Rage" writes that even Libyans are now daring to hope that the 41-year-long rule of Gaddafi might be coming to an end.
The Monday report comes three days after a revolution ousted president Hosni Mubarak from power in Egypt.
The report also added that underground opposition groups and civil society movements were planning to hold mass pro-democracy protests in major cities across the country in the coming day.
"Behind the closed doors of their homes, they discussed whether the winds of change might blow through their own country," the report said.

Egypt asks EU to freeze Mubarak assets

The Egyptian government has asked Germany, UK and France to freeze the assets of its former officials as EU discussed the issue in a meeting in Brussels.
Ahead of the meeting, the head of the eurozone area, Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, said on Monday that he wanted the region to follow Switzerland's lead in freezing assets held by Mubarak, a Press TV correspondent reported.
British Foreign Minister William Hague said the UK would conform with the request and take “firm and prompt action” to see if there was any evidence of misuse of state assets.
“We have... received a request from the Egyptian government to freeze the assets of several former Egyptian officials," Hague told parliament.
Germany later said it too had received a request from Egyptian authorities for the financial assets of former government members and lawmakers to be frozen

English: Reuters - The United States aims to spend $75 million to double the size of a special Yemeni counter-terrorism unit, a U.S. official said on Monday.
The funding, which has yet to be approved by Congress, is part of a broader effort to increase pressure on al Qaeda's Yemen-based affiliate, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, the official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Michael Leiter, head of the National Counterterrorism Center, told Congress last week he saw AQAP as the biggest current threat to the U.S. homeland.

English : By the time Egyptians forced President Mubarak to quit, the enthusiasm for former U.N. nuclear regulator Mohamed ElBaradei had dwindled. He is viewed as a reluctant revolutionary who inspired but didn't lead.
But even as Egyptians forced President Hosni Mubarak to step down Friday, the enthusiasm for ElBaradei had dwindled. The 68-year-old diplomat is viewed by many as a reluctant revolutionary, a man who inspired them but didn't lead them into the streets against the police state.
The former head of the United Nations nuclear regulatory agency has shown flashes of courage and tenacity. On Jan. 28, he prayed outside a Cairo mosque. He then turned and walked toward barrages of tear gas and water cannon fired by riot police. It was an image Egyptians had been awaiting for months, but as quickly as it happened, he disappeared.
"He just arrived from abroad," businessman Ahmed Hanna said. "What does he know about Egypt?"
