English: Machahir123-- France will commit the "gradual withdrawal" of reinforcements sent to Afghanistan, "in proportion and in a time comparable to the withdrawal of American reinforcements," said the Elysee Palace on Thursday morning in a statement.
The declaration of the French presidency follows the announcement Wednesday by U.S. President Barack Obama to withdraw by the summer of 2012 a third of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, 33,000 men.
Before his speech, Obama spoke by telephone Wednesday with his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy "to talk with him about our shared commitment to Afghanistan," said the Elysee Palace.
Nicolas Sarkozy "underlined that France and shares the U.S. objectives and that it welcomes the decision of President Obama", they added the same source.
Following his meeting with U.S. President, the head of the French state "confirmed that France will remain fully engaged with its allies in the Afghan people to carry to completion the process of transition," continued the Elysée.
"Given the progress made, it will initiate a phased withdrawal of reinforcements sent to Afghanistan, and proportionally the same timetable for the withdrawal of American reinforcements. This withdrawal will be done in consultation with our allies and with the Afghan authorities," has argued the French Presidency.
Four thousand French troops are currently deployed in Afghanistan.
Freinds of Machahir123 from Paris said: "Grâce à monsieur Sarkozy, nous sommes devenus les "caniches des USA. Le vieux général doit se retourner dans sa tombe
