مشاهير123 - تشير تقارير ان الرئيس باراك أوباما سيعلن مساء الأربعاء 22-6-2011 للأمريكيين قراره حول حجم بدء الانسحاب العسكري من أفغانستان، والذي قد يشمل عشرة آلاف جندي حتى نهاية العام 2011.
وقال جاي كارني المتحدث باسم البيت الأبيض  في بيان "سيخاطب الرئيس أوباما الأمة من البيت الأبيض لعرض خطته الهادفة إلى تطبيق الاستراتيجية التي أعلنها في ديسمبر/كانون الأول 2009، والقاضية بسحب جنود من أفغانستان".

وتعهد أوباما ببدء سحب قوات أمريكية من أفغانستان بدءاً من شهر يوليو/تموز 2011، وذلك عند إعلانه في ديسمبر/كانون الأول 2009 عن إرسال 30 ألف جندي إضافي للتصدي لحركة طالبان، ضمن استراتيجية أمريكية جديدة وقتذاك، ما رفع عدد الجنود الأمريكيين في أفغانستان إلى حوالى مئة ألف، إلى جانب 47 ألف جندي من قوات حلف الأطلسي.
لكن البيت الابيض ظل منذ ذلك الوقت مبهماً حول مدى وسرعة الانسحاب، وشدد على أنه سيكون استناداً إلى "الوضع على الأرض".

President Barack Obama on Wednesday will move the United States a step closer to ending the war in Afghanistan when he announces plans to bring thousands of American troops home, beginning next month.

Administration officials say the president is still in the final phase of a decision-making process that has focused not only on how many troops will come home in July, but also on a broader blueprint designed to put the U.S. on a path toward giving Afghans control of their security by 2014.

The President was given a range of options for the withdrawal last week by Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan. The military favors a gradual reduction in troops but other advisers are advocating a significant decrease in the coming months.
